ASG Eye Hospital to Provide Free Firecracker Eye Trauma Care for Kids

ASG Eye Hospital

ASG Eye Hospital has announced a nationwide Diwali safety initiative providing free investigation and surgery for children under 15 years of age suffering from firecracker-related eye injuries.

The campaign will be operational from October 15 to October 24, 2025, across 175+ ASG Eye Hospital and Vasan Eye Care centres spanning 87+ cities in India.

The initiative reinforces ASG Eye Hospital’s commitment to ensuring access to quality and timely eye care during the festive season, especially for young children who are at higher risk of injury.

Firework-related accidents often lead to serious corneal or anterior segment damage, posing a threat of permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.

ASG Eye Hospital’s Diwali Initiative Offers Free Eye Trauma Care

“The first few hours after an eye injury are critical,” said Dr Himanshu Shekhar, Group Chief Strategy Officer, ASG Eye Hospital. “Delays often occur due to lack of awareness or fear of expenses. This Diwali, we are ensuring accessibility and removing the cost barrier entirely by offering free investigations and surgeries across all our centres. Parents must avoid home remedies and rush the child to the nearest ASG or Vasan Eye Care centre immediately.”

Coordinated Nationwide Network Across 175+ Centres

Highlighting the hospital’s preparedness, Dr Vikas Jain, Group COO, ASG Eye Hospital, stated, “With the combined network of ASG Eye and Vasan Eye Care, our teams are ready to respond to eye trauma cases across metros, Tier-2, and Tier-3 cities. Pediatric trauma cases will be prioritised for triage, imaging, and surgery free of charge within this initiative.”

The hospital network has historically observed a rise in emergency eye cases during Diwali, primarily involving children due to their curiosity and proximity to fireworks. This campaign ensures quick access to trauma specialists and reduces the likelihood of permanent vision damage through timely intervention.

Safety Guidelines and Exclusions

ASG Eye Hospital advises parents and guardians to supervise children closely while handling fireworks, maintain safe distances, and use protective eyewear.

In the event of an eye injury, they should keep the eyes still, avoid rubbing or applying pressure, and reach the nearest ASG Eye Hospital or Vasan Eye Care centre immediately.

The initiative covers investigations and surgical procedures free of charge but excludes pharmacy, anaesthesiologist/anaesthetist charges, and spectacles.

This Diwali, ASG Eye Hospital aims to spread awareness and ensure that no child’s festival is overshadowed by preventable vision loss.
